Hollerado Win $250,000

Hollerado won $250,000 in a battle of the bands competition on Friday (Nov. 27) night.

The contest, which was dubbed The Big Money Shot, was coordinated by Ottawa's Live 88.5 FM.

Hollerado entered the competition in the summer and made the finals, which were held Friday at Ottawa's Capital Music Hall. They were declared the evening's unanimous winners, and the money will make it easier for them to tour China in December.

"Win or lose, we're still going to China and will keep doing what we're doing," singer/guitarist Menno Versteeg said on Thursday before the band played Toronto's Horseshoe Tavern.

This will be Hollerado's second trip to China this year. They were in China as part of Beijing's TransmitCHINA, a four-day trade event focused on cementing the relationship between the Canadian music industry and the Asian market, in May.
