The Yummy Fur Reunite, Tour U.S.

Cult Scottish art rock group The Yummy Fur — not be to confused with the comic series of the same name — are reuniting.
The band will tour next year in support of a new best-of compilation, due out in January via What's Your Rupture? The label hasn't confirmed an exact release date, but the band will be crossing the pond for the first time for five U.S. dates, according to Pitchfork.
For those new to the Fur, here's what you need to know: the band incubated some of the biggest names in U.K. indie rock. They featured the younger selves of Paul Thompson and Alex Kapranos, better known as members of dance-rock giants Franz Ferdinand, and John McKeown, frontman of Glasgow indie act the 1990s.
Call them Gen Y's answer to The Yardbirds, if you will. That is, if Clapton and Beck were weaned on Wire and The Fall.
Catch the quirky Scots on the following dates:
Jan. 7 Glasgow, Scotland @ Nice N' Sleazys
Jan. 8 London, England @ Buffalo Bar
Jan. 14 Philadelphia, PA @ Kung Fu Neck Tie
Jan. 15 Brooklyn, NY @ Lombardy
Jan. 17 Los Angeles, CA @ The Echo
Jan. 18 San Francisco, CA @ Cafe Du Nord
Jan. 20 Portland, OR @ Suicide Club
