Pixies Release Skate Shoe

Pixies

The Pixies have never stopped being cool, and they won't let you forget it.

If playing their 1989 classic Doolittle album in entirety on tour and selling out every date (and even playing with Weird Al!) wasn't enough, they've also struck gold with a merch deal. The Pixies have launched their own brand of skate shoes, exclusively through Vans, meaning they've joined the ranks of other bands who've got shoes.

The lines of shoes are available in as Vans slip-ons or hi-tops, and they feature the early Pixies poster/T-shirt image of Black Francis slumped over, with "Death to the Pixies" written across it. Not bad for a band who "broke up" in 1993, right?

The recently reformed Pixies have been going anything but half-assed on their tour, which has featured 11 films projected onto huge screens, an elaborate stage and a reimagining of songs like "Dead" and "Debaser."

The band are also released a deluxe catalogue box set called Minotaur, which includes a live DVD and "reinterpreted artwork" by Vaughan Oliver.

Coincidentally, the Pixies are just finishing up a tour with No Age, who have their own sneakers, too — so in theory, you could show up wearing one of each on your feet, making yourself the ultimate topical shoe wearer.
