Fall Out Boy guitarist Joe Trohman and drummer Andy Hurley have formed a new band called The Damned Things with Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian and Every Time I Die vocalist Keith Buckley and bassist David Karon.
Rock Sound magazine reports The Damned Things have recorded 15 demos and are looking to go into the studio next month to start recording their debut album.
"People think of Fall Out Boy and they think of Pete Wentz and Patrick [Stump, vocalist/guitarist]," Ian told the magazine. "These two guys, man, they're fucking hardcore dudes. Joe writes some amazing riffs."
Trohman told Rock Sound he hopes Buckley will do more "singing than screaming" in The Damned Things.
Ian said he had "reservations" about meeting Trohman and Hurley, but they "hit it off" right away and were jamming. Ian describes the band's sound as "Kyuss meeting Thin Lizzy."
"We started working on songs together and I really dug it. It just felt really good," Ian said. "It's super fun and it's something that we do totally take seriously because we love the music we've created."
Fall Out Boy are currently on "hiatus." Excuse me, on "break." Whatever, they aren't doing anything right now.
