The Strokes will begin recording their fourth album in January, frontman Julian Casablancas and bassist Nikolai Fraiture say.
Casablancas recently hinted in interviews that would be when the band would reconvene to start recording, and Fraiture confirmed it on his Twitter on Saturday.
"While the guys are in LA, I went to scout some studios in NYC with Ryan [Gentles, manager] today for what looks like Jan recording!!! mood = "f**king excited," he
tweeted.
The Strokes began writing the as-yet-untitled follow-up to 2006's
First Impressions Of Earth last January. Most of the members have pursued side projects or released solo albums during their downtime.
Casablancas put out his debut solo album,
Phrazes For The Young, last month. Fraiture released an album as
Nickel Eye earlier in the year and drummer Fabrizio Moretti put out an album with his
Little Joy side project late last year. Guitarist Albert Hammond, Jr. released his
sophomore solo album in 2008.
