DMX Sued For $1 Million For Backing Out Of MMA Fight

DMX

Remember DMX's mixed martial arts career? Neither do we. And that's because it ended before it even began.

Last week, the rapper preacher FBI agent renaissance man backed out on his inaugural fight because the promoters refused to rig it in his favour. Fortunately for him — and Thunder Promotions, which staged the fight — Coolio agreed to be his celebrity replacement.

But while X might have spared himself a beating in the ring, Thunder is now threatening to take the fisticuffs to the courtroom — a perennial DMX favourite. According to documents obtained by TMZ, they're suing him for $1 million U.S. (about $1,055,000 Canadian) — a new notch on his belt in a life story that has seen him arrested for impersonation and car theft, identity theft, animal cruelty and drug possession and swearing amongst other misadventures.

TMZ reports Thunder says DMX broke his contract, which never guaranteed a DMX victory. Finding a last minute celebrity replacement fighter is apparently neither cheap nor easy (unless, of course, you've got Christian Bale in your rolodex).

Don't expect Coolio (or DMX's dogs) to bail him out this time.
