All Time Low Targeted By Westboro Baptist Church

Pop-punk band All Time Low have drawn the ire of the Westboro Baptist Church, the radical anti-gay group led by Fred Phelps.

Altpress.com reports the church referenced an altpress.com news posting on its godhatesfags.com website (which we won't link to) over the weekend and said they plan to picket All Time Low's Dec. 6 show in Philadelphia.

"'All Time Low frontman suffers concussion' so says the bloggers and Alternative Press reporter," altpress.com reports the posting reads. "You may be wondering what [sic] in the world WBC cares about these losers - so let me break it down for you.

"How do you know how far gone a society is? You look at their social icons. When you look at these gender-confused, haphazard freakazoids then you can plainly see that america is DOOMED, for real! This is the final generation, and a little concussion is the least of their worries."

Westboro Baptist Church Megan Phelps-Roper tweeted the following to All Time Low frontman Alex Gaskarth:

"God Hates Fag Enablers! WBC will picket All Time Low's concert in Philly."

"Stay home. Intolerance isn't welcome at our show," Gaskarth replied.

Someone please organize a counter-protest... preferably as humourous and awesome as this one.

It's probably worth noting that the Westboro Baptist Church is not associated with any Baptist church. Both the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) list and monitor the Westboro Baptist Church as a hate group.

Members of the Westboro Baptist Church believe every bad event in the world is caused by God's anger about homosexuality. They believe homosexuality should be a capital crime. They also say any heterosexual person who does not explicitly condemn homosexuality is a "fag enabler."

The ADL has labelled the Westboro Baptist Church antisemitic. The church has also made comments against Catholics, Protestants, Muslims, Hindus, dead American soldiers and basically anybody who isn't a member of their group.
