Michael Jackson
The white glove Michael Jackson wore when he debuted the moonwalk in 1983 was auctioned for $350,000 U.S. (about $369,000 Canadian) on the weekend.

Julien's Auctions, which put the glove on the block with other Jackson memorabilia, originally estimated that it would sell for $50,000 U.S., but its final price including taxes was a whopping $420,000 U.S. (about $443,000 Canadian), according to Reuters.

Bidding on the glove opened at $10,000 U.S. and immediately went up to $120,000 U.S. before settling on the final amount.

A black jacket Jackson wore during his 1989 world tour was also sold and fetched a price of $225,000 U.S. (about $237,000 Canadian)

Julien's originally estimated the 80 Jackson items it auctioned to be worth between $80,000 to $100,000 U.S. The company later told Reuters that was an "intentionally conservative" estimate made to "generate interest" in the sale.

Jackson wore the glove when he performed the moonwalk for the first time at the at the Motown 25 event, which was held to celebrate the label's 25th anniversary. Here's a video of him doing it for the first time:

Jackson posthumously won four American Music Awards on Sunday night.
