Interpol are preparing to release their first album since 2007's underwhelming Our Love To Admire.
Interpol spent this past spring recording the as-yet-untitled disc at New York City's Electric Lady Studios. It will be released through Capitol in early 2010, though it doesn't have a definite shelf date yet.
If you didn't like Our Love To Admire, you might be in luck with their forthcoming release, as drummer Sam Fogarino told Paste magazine it "falls back towards [2002's Turn On The Bright Lights].
"In trying to move forward, there was an unspoken realization that you can't let go of your sonic-defining tag."
While they aren't promising to remake Turn On The Bright Lights, there's hope the as-yet-untitled new album will bring fans back to the band's original appeal. If anything, Fogarino ensures it will recapture their earlier work.
"That big wash of reverb? It's back, it's there. I personally brought two reverb tanks to the studio that our engineer fell in love with."
Although Interpol have been relatively quiet for the last few years, they certainly haven't been hiding in shame over their last studio album. They've been working on side-projects, films, and collaborations with Swervedriver members.
