New My Chemical Romance Album Influenced By Stooges, MC5

Could My Chemical Romance's days of being labelled an "emo" band soon be over?
They might be when the band release their fourth album, because singer/guitarist Gerard Way told Rolling Stone the disc is more influenced by proto-punk than anything the band have done to date.
"We wanted to harness everything that's great about this band into shorter songs, almost protopunk, like The Stooges or the MC5," he said, revealing that one of the disc's songs will be called "Trans Am."
Way has previously said the album, which is being produced by Brendan O'Brien (Pearl Jam, Billy Talent) will be more "stripped down" than the band's back catalogue, and he's also called it their "defining work."
"A friend who heard the record recently said he now had no interest in listening to our older work anymore, that we had made all our old material redundant," Way recently told Rock Sound. "I took it as a compliment, the next thing you do should always make the last thing seem unimportant and I think that will happen when we finally release this album."
The record still doesn't have a title or release date, although they've started tracking it. Way recently told MTV News this is the longest My Chemical Romance have gotten into recording without choosing a title.
"I'm actually kind of excited about that," he said. "Its kind of 'anything goes' at this point, but I'm so happy with the songs."
