The
Stone Temple Pilots have decided they'd rather finish 2009 in the studio than on the road.
Singer Scott Weiland, guitarist Dean DeLeo, bassist Robert DeLeo and drummer Eric Kretz have decided to postpone dates they were to play in December and January until later in 2010 so they can finish recording their first studio
album since 2001's
Shangri-La Dee Da.
The band are currently touring Canada, and all their remaining dates in November will go ahead as scheduled.
Don Was (The Rolling Stones, Iggy Pop) is producing the as-yet-untitled album, which may or may not come out on Atlantic Records. According to Blabbermouth, Atlantic claims the band are still under contract, while Weiland and Kretz think they aren't and have been shopping for a new label.
