Green Day Top MTVu Woodie Award Winners

Green Day

Seeing the list of winner's from last night's Woodie Awards has proven to me that everything I assumed MTV knew about college radio is wrong.

Grizzly Bear and Animal Collective go home empty-handed? Green Day is the best performing band of the year? Whaa happened?

MTVu has already announced the winners of this year's Woodie Awards, given each year to artists favoured by college radio aficionados across the U.S. The show doesn't air until Dec. 4, but there's plenty to talk about in anticipation for its broadcast.

Highlights from last night's award show at New York City's Roseland Ballroom included: 3OH!3 coming on stage decked in Lady GaGa-inspired outfits; Matt & Kim's performance of "Lessons Learned" that included a crowd of hipsters stripping down to their underwear; and Zooey Deschanel being booed when she announced, "I'm not prepared to take off my clothes."

The keg-laden award ceremony featured past and present winners, and a number of celebrity guests including David Cross and Cyndi Lauper. Weeds' Mary-Louise Parker closed the night saying, "you guys are so hammered, you don't give a fuck what I say." And how, Parker.

This year's winners came out of the blue, though the nominee list was nothing short of impressive. Here's the list of winners:
