Perez Hilton and Black Eyed Peas manager Liborio "Polo" Molina have solved at least one part of their fight... because Molina apologized to Hilton.
Hilton (real name Mario Lavandeira) accused Molina of punching him outside a Toronto nightclub after an altercation with the Black Eyed Peas following the MuchMusic Video Awards in June.
Molina was charged with criminal assault following the incident, but a Toronto prosecutor dropped the charges on Wednesday because Molina apologized to Hilton and agreed to stay away from him.
"[The apology] said: 'I apologize for what I did on June 22 of 2009, even though you engaged in highly offensive comments, including a homophobic slur to my clients, I acknowledge that these kinds of issues should not be resolved through a physical response,'" Molina's lawyer, Mark Sandler, said as he read Molina's statement outside the courthouse, according to the Canadian Press.
Hilton told the Canadian Press in an email that he had yet to read the apology, but was pleased with it. Brian Greenspan, his lawyer, told the news agency Greenspan was upset with the wording in the apology, but nonetheless said it was "sincere."
The Canadian Press reports that as part of a peace bond agreement, Molina must not contact Hilton in any way except through his lawyer. He also can't carry weapons of any kind for a year, is not allowed within 100 metres of Cobra Nightclub and has donated $500 to Toronto's Red Door Family Shelter.
Hilton has also filed a civil lawsuit for more than $25,000 U.S. (about $26,000 Canadian) against Molina, citing alleged battery and intentional affliction of emotional distress. He claims Molina attacked him because he had criticized the Black Eyed Peas' The E.N.D. album on his website. The accusations haven't been proven in court.
