K'Naan is currently in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia as part of the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Cup Trophy Tour.
The tour is a 225-day extravaganza in which the World Cup Trophy is scheduled to visit 86 countries and give soccer fans the opportunity to see it up close. The trophy began travelling on Sept. 21 and will head around the world before ending up in South Africa on May 4. South Africa will host the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
K'Naan's been tweeting about his time in Africa this week.
"They put me in [Ethiopian] Emperor Haile Selassie's favorite hotel room," he wrote on Wednesday. "There is a conf space in my living room area, where he met heads of states."
So far, he's visited Kenya, Uganda, Djibouti, Sudan, Yemen (which isn't in Africa...), Eritrea and Djibouti.
"I gotta say, Kenya was amazing, Uganda was great, but nowhere in the world thus far parallels da love i've been given in Djibouti & Ethiopia," he also wrote on Wednesday.
In case you're wondering, no, K'Naan's itinerary doesn't have a stop in Somalia on it.
You can see K'Naan on Feb. 24 at The Orpheum Theatre in Whistler, B.C. and the next day at the Olympic Outdoor Stage in Vancouver as part of concerts for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games held in both cities.
