Faces To Tour With Simply Red Singer?

Former Faces keyboardist Ian McLagan, guitarist Ron Wood and drummer Kenney Jones have been talking about a reunion tour, and McLagan says they'll do it even if former singer Rod Stewart isn't game.

Stewart's pretty much said he won't be touring with the band, considering he plans to gig heavily in support of this year's Songbook in 2010. That means his former Faces bandmates are considering taking Simply Red singer Mick Hucknall (or someone else) on the road, and they want to do it soon, McLagan says.

"If we don't [tour] very soon, one of us is gonna check out," he told Billboard.com. "I'm 64, for chrissakes! We've been waiting and waiting for Rod to say yes; now he's finally said no. He's busy doing other shit. So we're gonna do it."

Hucknall's the obvious choice as Stewart's replacement because he filled in for Stewart at The Faces' one-off reunion gig last month in London, England. Billboard.com reports former Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman, who played with The Faces at a charity gig in October, most likely won't join them on the road. McLagan says his ideal replacement is ex-Sex Pistols bassist Glen Matlock, who apparently began "playing bass because of [late Faces bassist] Ronnie Lane."

Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea has also been rumoured to join the tour, which Flea recently denied.

"I like Flea," McLagan told Billboard.com. "I don't necessarily think he's a good replacement for Ronnie, but if he wants to do it we should talk about it."

Since The Faces' reunion tour is still tentative and technically just an idea, no dates have been announced yet.
