King Khan & BBQ Show Tour Manager Pleads Guilty To Possession Charge

The King Khan & BBQ Show
Kristin Klein, the tour manager responsible for The King Khan & BBQ Show's current North American trek, has pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance, the band say.

Klein, who was driving Khan (real name Arish Khan) and BBQ's (real name Mark Sultan) rented tour vehicle, was pulled over when the band were driving through Kentucky on Thursday (Nov. 12). That's when officers discovered a "controlled substance" in the cab of the vehicle, according to a statement from the band.

"Ms. Klein was unaware of the contraband and the validity of her license was indeterminable at time of arrest. Under KY law a driver of a vehicle is responsible for its contents," the statement reads.

Klein and Khan were arrested and both were charged with possession of a controlled substance (psilocybin), while Klein was charged with driving with a suspended license, according to the Kentucky New Era.

This contradicts previous stories in St. Louis' Riverfront Times, which had reported neither Khan or BBQ had been arrested and only Klein was stuck with the charges.

Khan was released on bail at 3 a.m. on Friday (Nov. 13), according to the Kentucky New Era, while Klein was released on $3,000 bail.

Klein must provide proof of a valid license on April 2, according to the band's statement.

The arrests meant Khan and BBQ were no-shows at their St. Louis show on Thursday night, and gigs in Lawrence, Kan. and Phoenix, Ariz. were also scuttled. The band say all their other upcoming dates "will be honored."
