Rush Guitarist Appearing In Trailer Park Boys' New Druggie Kids Show

Rush's Alex Lifeson will appear on an episode of The Drunk And On Drugs Happy Funtime Hour, the upcoming new series from Trailer Park Boys stars Mike Smith (Bubbles), Robb Wells (Ricky) and J.P. Tremblay (Julian).

The series will premiere on Showcase in Canada next year, and six half-hour episodes will be broadcast.

The Drunk And On Drugs Happy Funtime Hour follows Smith, Wells and Tremblay, who are actors on a children's television show in a town called Port Cockerton (you can bet lots of fun will be had with that name). Mayhem breaks loose when they accidentally consume hallucinogens from local berries and start thinking they're the characters on the show.

According to a Showcase release, Lifeson's character has been "hired to play a German scientist who teaches kids about nutrition, takes his role too seriously and assumes the personality of his character before turning evil and going on to synthesize and distribute a hallucinogenic drug from local blueberries."

This isn't the first time he's worked with the Trailer Park Boys cast. Lifeson appeared on an episode of Trailer Park Boys in 2003. In that episode, Randy "borrowed" Lifeson after Lahey and Randy ripped Randy off for Rush tickets and Bubbles got to be Lifeson's guitar tech. Lifeson also narrated a Trailer Park Boys special dubbed "Trailer Park Boys 101" that aired in 2007.

Rush will release a greatest hits live compilation, Working Men, on Tuesday (Nov. 17). It's comprised of tracks recorded for 2008's Snakes & Arrows Live, 2005's R30 and 2003's Rush In Rio.
