Trevor Peres, guitarist for Floridan death metallers Obituary, has launched his own barbecue sauce line, T-Bone's Famous.
The line's first flavour, the "Original Rib'Licious Bar-B-Que Sauce," is available online and in stores now, and apparently has "a sweet and tangy flavor with a blend of mild spices and a hint of hickory smoke," according to a press release.
T-Bone's Famous gets its moniker from Peres, whose nickname is T-Bone. He says he acquired the nickname when Obituary were on tour with Agnostic Front in 1992, but his fascination with barbecuing and culinary things goes further back.
"The passion for cookin' began when I was a child in Jacksonville, Florida, with my grandpa John Landregan, who was a cook in the U.S. Navy," Peres says. "He was always cookin' up somethin' good in the kitchen.
"Naturally, this gave me the desire to learn. After a few years in the kitchen, I turned to the great outdoors and started to barbecue. In Florida, we barbecue all year round from sun up to sun down.
"After perfectin' the art of smokin' ribs and pork shoulder, I decided that I needed to come up with my own dippin' sauces and dry rubs. In this bottle you will taste the passion for cookin' that started with my papa John many years ago."
Peres plans to release spicy rib rubs, sweet chicken rubs and a "spicy hot" barbecue sauce in the future, according to the sauce line's website. You can find recipes and buy T-Bone's Famous merch on the website as well.
