Green Day Musical Going To Broadway

While Green Day may not have reached their Rocky Horror Picture Show dreams quite yet, American Idiot, the musical inspired by their album of the same name is heading to Broadway.

Playbill.com reports a public casting notice on Monday (Nov. 9) the show's producers are planning to move it from Berkley, Calif. to New York. It's not known when this will happen.

"There is a Broadway future for the show, but at this time no dates or theatre are confirmed," spokesman Michael Hartman told the website.

The original cast members are expected to be part of the Broadway production of American Idiot, despite the public posting.

The production, which features songs from American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown, premiered earlier this year at the Berkeley Repertory Theater. It's now the top-grossing show in the theatre's 41-year history. American Idiot was extended for three weeks even before its first performance, and has recently been extended again. The show's run ends Nov. 15.
