Ilan Rubin, who's drummed for Nine Inch Nails and the Lostprophets, has made a special limited edition of the first album from his new project, The New Regime, exclusively available through the group's website and Nine Inch Nails' official site.
The limited edition of Coup will cost you $45 and will include the album on 180-gram vinyl and CD, a DVD with live performances and an interview with Rubin, a 16-page colour booklet and a website link to download instrumental mixes. Only 1,000 copies are available, and all have been signed by Rubin. Alternatively, you can buy a digipack of the album through The New Regime's website for seven bones.
Rubin recorded the music for Coup during downtime between touring with Nine Inch Nails and Lostprophets. He wrote all the music for every instrument on the disc and began recording it in his San Diego garage.
"I started playing it for people — not telling them who it was - and started getting some really positive feedback," he says. "So I decided to continue with it.
"I wanted people to listen to it and make up their minds based on the music - not who it was by, or what band I'm in."
Rubin is currently working on The New Regime's sophomore album.
