Finger Eleven guitarist James Black isn't about to switch bands soon, but the guitarist will be a temporarily part of Evanescence this weekend.
Black will apparently fill in for Evanescence guitarist Troy McLawhorn as the band plays Sunday's Maquinaria Festival in Sao Paolo, Brazil alongside Faith No More, Deftones and Jane's Addiction.
The musician was also part of Evanescence's "secret" gig Wednesday night (Nov. 4) at New York City's Grand Ballroom. The band's set contained material from their last two albums with no new material performed.
"Thank you for a great time tonight, NY!" singer Amy Lee said on her Twitter today. "Thank you for the love, support and cupcakes. Here we come, Brazil!"
Lee is apparently writing songs for the new studio effort, but there's no timetable when the album will be out. A recent Twitter post had her recording demos for the new album in her studio on Oct. 26.
Finger Eleven are off the road after touring behind 2007's Them Vs. You Vs. Me but have their song "Paralyzer" included on Band Hero.
Black, meanwhile, recently composed the score to Clear Red, the debut feature film with Finger Eleven singer Scott Anderson making his film debut. Black also continues to play with Finger Eleven guitarist Rick Jackett in support of their Blackie Jackett, Jr. alt.country project.
