Blink-182 Bassist Mark Hoppus Hearts Japandroids

Mark Hoppus is really impressed with Vancouver's Japandroids.

The Blink-182 singer/bassist just launched a new column, Hopp On Pop, which appears on Spin.com, and his first installment is about just how much he loves the duo of guitarist Brian King and drummer David Prowse's music, and says he has his hair dresser to thank for getting him into them.

"There are a lot of two-piece acts out there right now and some are really great, but Japandroids just sound really different from everything out there," Hoppus writes.

"I've seen a video of them playing live and the guitar player actually splits his signal into two different amps — one is really distorted and the other is more clean, so it sounds like there are two guitars being played even though it's just one guitarist."

Hoppus also says he loves the Polaris Music Prize long listed Post-Nothing's "Heart Sweats" because it reminds him of early Smashing Pumpkins.
