Slim Twig Releases Another Free Mixtape

Toronto-based singer-songwriter Slim Twig has released the second volume of his Spit It Twig! Mixtape and has announced a series of North American tour dates.

The pomp-sporting Twig, whose experimental and avant-garde influences showed heavily on his release Contempt! earlier this year, is proving hard to pin down. Raising his glass to free hip-hop mixtapes, his first volume was released as a kudo to the Wu-Tang Clan by creating a sample-based album and adding in his own vocals.  

When asked to describe volume two, Twig said, "Spit It Twig Vol. 2 represents my commitment to the free mixtape format I admire so much in artists like Lil Wayne and the Clipse. This time I decided to stretch out my repertoire in directions both more overtly hip-hop and even more abstract. This mix also features more collaboration than any of my other releases with contributions from Dirty Beaches, Onakabazien, D-Sisive and a (one-sided-career-fulfilling) collab with David Lynch. The diversity of Spit It Twig Vol. 2 was meant to reveal my intention and future direction with tapes which is to periodically expose experiments, and spontaneous ideas to those who are curious... all for a great price."
