Canadian Slayer fans will have to wait a little longer to see their favourite thrash metallers because singer/bassist Tom Araya needs back surgery.
Araya's been seeing a back specialist for an injury that it's thought he sustained on stage. The doctor has ordered him to undergo surgery on Tuesday (Nov. 3) morning in Texas. That's forced the band to postpone their upcoming Canadian Carnage tour with Megadeth, which was to begin on Sunday (Nov. 8).
The band have also postponed their upcoming appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, which they were to play Wednesday (Nov. 4).
"What is foremost in our minds right now is that Tom does whatever he needs to to get this taken care of," guitarist Kerry King says. "While all four of us are disappointed that we won't be able to see through all of our commitments set for the next few weeks, the most important thing is Tom's health.
"We thank the fans in Canada and here in L.A., the Megadeth camp, and everyone associated with Jimmy Kimmel Live for their understanding. We look forward to seeing you all soon."
Slayer will release their 10th studio album, World Painted Blood, on Tuesday.
