Who frontman Roger Daltrey has subtly hinted (OK, maybe not so subtly) that a version of
Rock Band featuring The Who could be coming soon.
Daltrey was being interviewed by the MassLive website when he mentioned a Who version of
Rock Band.
"The game, yeah, yeah, they're going to be doing a Who one next year. There is one planned. [The idea] is fabulous. Anything that gets non-musical people interested in music is wonderful," he said.
A spokesperson for
Rock Band told the Kotaku video game blog they didn't have "anything new to announce at this time," but... "we're working closely with the Who on what's next."
Don't get too excited, though. Someone from the
Rock Band camp hinted about a Green Day
version of
Rock Band, but there's been nothing to that so far.
There's always the chance the spokesperson could just be talking about The Who's songs being featured in another multiple artist installment of
Rock Band. That's happened in the past, since "Won't Get Fooled Again" was included in
Rock Band and "Pinball Wizard" was used in
Rock Band 2.
If this does come to fruition, though, let's hope there's plenty of Pete Townshend breaking his axe and doing windmills.
The Beatles: Rock Band, the only
Rock Band game to feature a single artist and songs from their catalogue, came out earlier this year.
