Black Flag, Social Distortion, Danzig Drummer Chuck Biscuits Dies

Chuck Biscuits
Chuck Biscuits, a drummer who played with Black Flag, Social Distortion and Danzig, among other acts, died of throat cancer last Saturday (Oct. 24).

Biscuits (real name Charles Montgomery), 44, passed away "surrounded by his family," according to an email sent to Blabbermouth.net by an anonymous family member.

Biscuits, who was also an artist, was born in 1965 in British Columbia and began his career drumming for D.O.A. before he moved to California in 1982 and joined Black Flag. He left the band after five months, but moved on to play with acts like Circle Jerks, Fear and the Weirdos.

The drummer began playing with Danzig in 1988 and can be heard on the band's first four albums, in addition to 1993's Thrall: Demonsweatlive EP. Biscuits finished his career as Social Distortion's drummer from 1996 to 1999, but only appeared on the band's 1998 Live At The Roxy album.

Biscuits was also a breakfast cereals enthusiast. He collected boxes of the stuff. Here's a Danzig home video in which he shows some of his favourite cereals (including a box of Boo Berry, a box of Franken Berry from the '80s and a box of Count Chocula from the '50s!!!):
