Expect Linkin Park's new album to be really, really over the top. At least, that's how frontman Chester Bennington described it to MTV News recently.
Bennington was speaking to the network about Out Of Ashes, the debut album from his Dead By Sunrise project that also includes two members of Orgy.
When he was asked about the new Linkin Park album, he said the band have a "shit ton" of music written for it, and Rick Rubin (System Of A Down, Johnny Cash) — who helmed 2007's Minutes To Midnight — is producing it again. It's also a concept album, but Bennington won't say what it's about.
"It's like, 'Oh, let's go and make this giant opus that no one's ever done. It's going to cost billions of dollars and take forever.' And we're like, 'Wait a second, it's going to cots billiions of dollars and take forever,'" he said.
"[So] we might need to just make a record and still try to do a concept but figure out a way to do it without actually waiting another five or six years to put out a record, to try and pull off all the grandiose insanity we were thinking of doing. And we're doing that. So I would imagine, I'm guessing even conservatively, that we'll probably have a record out by June of next year."
Bennington and his bandmates will have to fit recording their new disc around Bennington's touring with Dead By Sunrise, though. They've only got one show lined up at Las Vegas' Joint on Dec. 11, but Bennington says he wants the band to play more dates.
"And we're actually talking about doing a festival of just the bands we're in, so it will be Linkin Park, Orgy, Fort Minor, Dead By Sunrise, Julien-K, Circuit Freq, JK-DJs — it's a pretty good bill," he told MTV News. "It'll have to be called the Narcissist Tour."
