Nine Inch Nails ended their Wave Goodbye tour earlier this year, but not before performing their landmark album The Downward Spiral in its entirety during a New York City gig.

Fans attending the show have captured the performance and will release it on DVD. Lead singer Trent Reznor approves of the project and says the band couldn't do it on their own.

"On the recent Wave Goodbye tour, we were unable to professionally film the band's performance of The Downward Spiral at Webster Hall, due to the exorbitant fees requested by the LiveNation venue," Reznor wrote on the band's website on Friday (Oct. 23).

"Our open camera policy, however, remained in tact, and as soon as the show ended fans took matters into their own hands, organizing online to track down everyone who had filmed HD footage of the show.

"Now, only two months later, the group has released a polished, edited, downloadable DVD of the full Downward Spiral performance from Webster Hall. The entire thing has been recorded, edited and distributed entirely by fans, and it's the latest example of the amazing things fans will do when their creativity isn't limited by outdated, misguided restrictions."

The DVD, entitled The Downward Spiral: Live At Webster Hall, is available on a YouTube playlist here and will also be downloadable via torrent as a burnable DVD or iPod/iPhone-friendly video.

Reznor says while this DVD is great, it's not the only DVD footage fans will see of the band.

"We filmed all of the other final Wave Goodbye shows professionally, and you can expect to see that footage surface in some form or another in the future," Reznor wrote.

The group wrapped up their Wave Goodbye tour with a string of dates in Los Angeles in September. The band's final Canadian show was headlining thesecond day of Virgin Festival Ontario in late August at Toronto's Molson Amphitheatre.
