Alanis Morissette probably won't win the New York City Marathon, but she'll be one of the participants on Nov. 1.
The singer will run in support of the Maasi Wilderness Conservation Trust in the "Maasi Marathon" with other celebrities participating, according to her website.
Morissette's site contains a link to sponsor her, and so far she's raised $1,429 U.S. in sponsor money. Other notable celebrities ahead of her include magician David Blaine ($5,570 U.S.) and actor Edward Norton ($75,665 U.S.).
This is Morissette second marathon in a month. She ran in the Bizz Johnson Trail Marathon for NEDA (National Eating Disorders Association) between Susanville and Westwood, Calif. on Oct. 11.
"That experience was truly beautiful and electric and traumatic and exciting and horrifying and surreal and moving and unforgettable," she wrote on her website.
Morissette, who toured South America earlier this year, released her last studio album Flavors Of Entanglement in 2008. She recently headlined the Power To The Peaceful Festival in San Francisco, a festival produced by Michael Franti.
