Metric won two CASBY Awards for their
Polaris Music Prize short listed Fantasies in a ceremony and concert held at Toronto's Kool Haus on Thursday (Oct. 22) night.
Singer/keyboardist Emily Haines, guitarist Jimmy Shaw, bassist Josh Winstead and drummer Joules Scott-Key won the NXNE favourite new indie release and favourite new album awards for
Fantasies, whichhad previously been nominated for an album of the year XM Verge Music Award as well as the Polaris Music Prize.
Elsewhere,
Arkells took home the award for favourite new artist, while
City And Colour won the favourite new single award for his "Sleeping Sickness."
Arkells, The Stills, Metric, Mother Mother, Matthew Good, IllScarlett and Bedouin Soundclash's Jay Malinowski performed at this year's CASBY Awards.
The CASBY Awards — short for Canadian Artists Selected By You — are handed out annually by Toronto radio station 102.1 The Edge. They have been running since 1981, when they were known as the U-Knows.
