Hidden Cameras Working On Dub Album

The Hidden Cameras are evolving and frontman Joel Gibb has no sympathy for people who expect his band to sound a certain way. In fact, he's ready to take the gloomy atmosphere of The Hidden Cameras' latest disc, Origin:Orphan, one step further.
"There are two records I've been working on, both extremely different, one of which I would say is more gloomy," he explains. "We'd like to try to get into the studio in the next couple of weeks and try out some gloom dub. I don't know if that will go over, but I'm thinking it will. Everyone likes a good dub beat."
Gibb is growing noticeably peeved by the amount of focus being placed on Origin:Orphan's sinister leanings. At the same time, he seems excited to see what will happen when he takes his Hidden Cameras in even darker directions.
"You should just wait to hear these next records," he says. "Hopefully if we have any fans left, they'll have appreciated the diversity of everything and maybe see a commonality in the songs and lyrics and my voice that makes things Hidden Cameras."
Fans will get their first look at the Cameras' new material when the band hit the road for a lengthy fall tour. Gibb promises the latest incarnation of The Hidden Cameras live band will feature new faces as well as familiar ones.
"Gentleman Reg is touring with us," he says. "He's an old-school Hidden Cameras member, so there'll be old faces reappearing."
