Fresh off Sonic Youth's appearance on Monday's episode of Gossip Girl comes the news that a real live gossip girl (in the tabloid sense), Lady GaGa, will show up on the television series sometime soon.

Rumours have been swirling on the interwebs for some time that GaGa (real name Stefani Germanotta) would appear on the program. But Gossip Girl star Penn Badgley (Dan Humphrey on the show) confirmed it to MTV News on Tuesday.

"Yeah, she's part of the threesome — I'm kidding," Badgley joked about an upcoming episode that features a threesome between some of the show's characters. (Just who takes part hasn't been announced.)

"She's not, but there is a threesome and there is Lady GaGa, so you gotta keep watching."

We bet GaGa wouldn't mind being in that episode, though, considering she once said she wanted to have a foursome with the Jonas Brothers.

"I don't want to give away too much, but she will perform a bit," Badgley told the television station. "And it is involved in the story line."

In other GaGa news, the singer recently covered John Lennon's "Imagine" at a dinner for the Human Rights Campaign, the largest queer civil rights organization in the United States. Prior to taking the stage, she was introduced by none other than U.S. president Barack Obama.

"It is a privilege to be here tonight to open for Lady GaGa. I've made it," Obama said before GaGa's performance.

GaGa's rendition of "Imagine" featured slightly changed lyrics about Matthew Shepard, a man who was murdered because he was gay in 1998. GaGa sang, "No hell below us/And only Matthew in the sky" in the first verse.

Hopefully, that's a calculated fuck you to Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church, who run an incredibly hateful site dedicated to Shepard. We aren't going to link to it because it's disgusting, but we will tell you that it displays the number of days since Shepard's death with the words "Matthew Shepard has been in hell for" that number "of days."

GaGa's cover drew praise from Yoko Ono, Lennon's widow.

"Dear Lady GaGa, Thank you for singing 'Imagine,'" Ono wrote on her Twitter. "Hearing that made me choke up. You are so beautiful! In Sisterhood and love, Yoko."

Here's GaGa playing the song:
