Julian Lennon, John Lennon's eldest son, has recorded and released a tribute song for Lucy Vodden, the inspiration behind The Beatles' "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds," who
died of lupus last month.
Lennon recorded the track with James Scott Cook, who wrote the song. It's up for sale on Lennon's
website, where you can also stream it in entirety. You can choose whether you'd like to pay $1.29 U.S. ($1.33 Canadian), $2.29 ($2.36 Canadian) or $3.29 ($3.39 Canadian) for it. All proceeds will be donated to lupus research in Vodden's name. The track is Lennon's first release since the late '90s.
Lennon has a unique connection to Vodden. He met her in the mid-'60s when he was just a four-year-old boy and drew a picture of her in a sky with diamonds one day at school. He came home, showed his father, and John Lennon used the picture as the inspiration for The Beatles' "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds."
