Remember how
Radiohead's Thom Yorke
said earlier this year he "hates" CDs and the band might only release EPs and singles in the future? Turns out that isn't so.
Guitarist Ed O'Brien recently told NME.com the band definitely have plans to record a follow-up to 2007's
In Rainbows this winter with longtime producer Nigel Godrich (Travis, Air).
"We will be making an album!" O'Brien said, and said it would be available on CD and vinyl. "We love the artwork; that's really important to us, the physicality. And we like vinyl. That's not going to go away."
We bet that's also one of the reasons Radiohead cover artist Stanley Donwood likes albums, too!
"We're always going into the studio in winter," O'Brien said. "It's always so miserable! When you're in a studio in the countryside the music you make is definitely affected by what season it is."
Yorke has been busy with many other projects recently. He's recorded a track for the
New Moon soundtrack, and recently played two
shows at Los Angeles' Echoplex at which he was backed by Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, Gordich, R.E.M. and Smashing Pumpkins drummer Joey Waronker and Brazilian multi-instrumentalist Mauro Refosco.
Radiohead drummer Phil Selway, meanwhile,
wrote a track for the recently released
7 Worlds Collide Neil Finn project and has plans to release a
solo album at some point in the future.
