U2 Returning To North America Next Summer

U2 are still in the midst of their North American 360 stadium tour — and trying to recoup the incredible $750,000 U.S. daily tab for their jaunt — but the Irish rock group are already planning to return to North America next summer.

No dates have been announced on the band's website, but an article in USA Today says the group will mount their second North American leg of shows in Mexico City, Mexico beginning May 30. The tour is then expected to continue into June and July hitting markets not visited this year.

The band played Toronto and Vancouver on their current trek. More Canadian dates could be added on the second leg — possibly Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg or any other sports venue capable of holding the massive "claw" stage design.

U2's previous Vertigo arena tour had a similar plan, hitting western Canada and the U.S. in the spring of 2005 before returning in the fall of the same year for another round of shows, including a five-night stand at Toronto's Air Canada Centre that September.

The band have already confirmed European dates beginning in August 2010 and running until early October. The opening date for that leg is at Commerzbank Arena in Frankfurt, Germany on Aug. 10.

U2 are also offering new memberships to their fan club, with one of the perks being presale access to 2010 concert dates.

In related news, the USA Today article also stated the group were quite interested in having their own Rock Band game last year, but decided not to go ahead with the plan.

"We definitely would like to be in there, but we felt some of the compromises weren't what we wanted," bassist Adam Clayton said in the article. "That could change. I love the idea that that's where people are getting music, and we'd love to be in that world."
