Wilco Planning "Trans Canada" Tour In 2010

If Canadian fans of Wilco can't get to their two shows at Toronto's Massey Hall next week, they probably won't have to wait too long before the band hit a place closer to them.
Although no dates have been announced thus far, the band have confirmed they will mount what they're calling a "Trans Canada" tour in 2010 to go with a jaunt of the northwestern U.S. The tour dates are expected to be "coming soon" according to their official website.
The group are currently touring behind Wilco (The Album) and will wrap up 2009 with a European trek.
The Canadian tour isn't something new to the band. While hitting the country's bigger cities repeatedly, Wilco also have headlined shows in the Maritime provinces in 2006 with shows in Halifax and Fredericton, N.B., and recently opened for Neil Young on his Canadian tour last year.
There's also speculation Wilco might start the Canadian tour in British Columbia to perform as part of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver next February.
A special Olympics-related concert at Vancouver's Queen Elizabeth Theatre on Feb. 18 entitled Hal Willner's Neil Young Project will feature Ron Sexsmith, Broken Social Scene, Iron And Wine, Joan As Policewoman and Sun Kil Moon, with more expected to be announced.
Given Wilco's love of Young's work and somewhat recently supporting him, it's a distinct possibility they'll be part of the concert.
