Stephen Harper Sings Beatles Song At "Rich Gala"

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper showed up during cellist Yo-Yo Ma's performance at... an arts gala this weekend.
Harper came on stage at Ottawa's National Arts Centre on Saturday night to play The Beatles' "With A Little Help From My Friends" with Ma and Ottawa band Herringbone, according to the Ottawa Citizen. It was a fitting tune, considering Harper had just survived a confidence vote in the House Of Commons that week.
The gala was held to support the next generation of Canadian musicians. While Harper's singing isn't as bad as Preston Manning's attempts to speak French... it's still bad.
During the 2008 federal election, Harper said he thought the average Canadian couldn't relate to the arts.
"I think when ordinary working people come home, turn on the TV and see... a bunch of people at a rich gala... subsidized by the taxpayers — claiming their subsidies aren't high enough when they know those subsidies have gone up — I'm not sure that's something that resonates with ordinary people," he's reported to have said then.
Personally, I think when ordinary working people come home, turn on the TV and see Harper singing to a bunch of people at a gala, they have a hard time understanding what the heck's going on.
