Last week's unlikely collaboration was between Emm Gryner and Def Leppard singer Joe Elliott, and this week's is between Feist producer Mocky and GZA.
The latter two musicians teamed up for a remix of the single for Saskamodie's "Birds Of A Feather." The track was released on Monday and you can hear the remix here. The remix is one of two mixes that show up with the "Birds Of A Feather" single.
"When I was making this record my dream was that it would get sampled and used in hip-hop tracks," Mocky told Spinner.ca. "So to have someone like GZA do a verse over a loop from that record, it's like a dream come true."
Mocky told the website an associate of both acts gave GZA a copy of Saskamodie, but when Mocky didn't hear anything from the rapper he figured the project wouldn't happen.
"Then I would hear, 'Oh, he loves the track, he's about to do it this weekend.' I would think to myself, 'I wouldn't be surprised if you asked GZA right now who Mocky is, he'd say no.'
"I just could not imagine it. Then one day, there it was in my inbox, an a capella from GZA for 'Birds Of A Feather.'"
GZA's recently collaborated with Black Lips and King Khan.
The trailer for the second part of Mocky's The Mockumentary has recently showed up online. Mocky released the first installment as a companion to Saskamodie earlier this year. Here's the trailer for part two:
Mocky told Spinner.ca he's planning to help Feist work on the follow-up to 2007's multi-Platinum The Reminder in January, but for now you can see him here:
