Conservative Pundit Glenn Beck Loves Muse, Muse Don't Love Him

Conservative radio and television host Glenn Beck praised Muse's new album, The Resistance, on his program in September, only to have the band's management ask that he retract his positive statements.
Beck made the comments on the Sept. 16 edition of radio show, The Glenn Beck Program. Beck praised the lyrics in The Resistance's "United States Of Eurasia," which he said was the band's denouncement of "one world government." Even more ironically, Beck compared the lyrics to George Orwell's 1984, which... doesn't exactly endorse Beck's kind of conservative libertarianism.
Muse frontman Matthew Bellamy has stated in interviews the song is about The Grand Chessboard, a book by Zbigniew Brzezinski, the former United States National Security Advisor to U.S. President Jimmy Carter.
"Brzezinski has the viewpoint that the Eurasian landmass, ie. Europe, Asia and the Middle East, needs to be controlled by America to secure the oil supply," Bellamy told Mojo magazine earlier this year.
"He talks very matter-of-factly about seeing the world as a chessboard. That, combined with the obvious Orwellian reference to the state of Eurasia from 1984, inspire the words on that song."
When you consider Bellamy has also stated he believes the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks were an inside job, you can't exactly picture a band like Muse being happy at a glowing endorsement from a pundit like Beck.
So Muse's management promptly contacted Beck to protest what he was saying... immediately after he said it.
"Just got an email from representation of Muse," Beck said later in the same episode of the program. "They would like me to retract my endorsement.
"My apologies to Muse. I apologize for saying that I liked them. I didn't meant to destroy all their credibility and their coolness.
"Let me just set the record straight: Muse. I hate them. It's an awful album. You should never go out and buy their albums."
Here's Beck's endorsement of the band, followed by his retraction:
