Brian Redman, the former bassist for
3 Inches Of Blood and a founding member of Seattle hardcore punk band
Trial, has died in a scooter accident at age 31.
Redman died early Sunday morning after being thrown from his scooter after he hit a curb in Tacoma, Wash., according to the
Tacoma News Tribune. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and funeral arrangements are still in the works.
"We are shocked and saddened by the tragic loss of our friend and former band mate Brian Redman," 3 Inches Of Blood wrote on their
website on Wednesday.
"Brian was an outgoing and charismatic person who was great friends with most people he met. We couldn't help but smile or laugh when he was around. He had such a likable personality but also had a knack for putting serious things into perspective.
"While in the band Brian played a big part. He joined the band shortly after signing a big record deal, and endured the turmoil that followed after recording our
Advance And Vanquish album. For a time the band's future was uncertain, but Brian was unwavering in his desire to play this music with us. He was loved by many and enjoyed life to the fullest."
Trial also posted a statement on their
MySpace page in which they echoed 3 Inches Of Blood's feelings about Redman.
"No matter who came in contact with Brian, they were instantly attracted to him," the statement reads. "He was one of the most sincere, sarcastic, witty, intelligent, talented guys that you would ever meet. Even if he was having a bad day, he put on a happy face to raise the spirits of those around him. He was a good... no, he was a great friend to all those that he cared for and cared for him."
Redman founded Trial in 1995 and remained with the band until they broke up in 2000. He joined 3 Inches Of Blood in 2004 after original bassist Rich Trawick left the band. He played on 2004's
Advance And Vanquish and toured with the band before leaving in 2006.
