Thom Yorke has been doing a lot of different things in his time off from
Radiohead lately, and this latest one is no exception.
Yorke's formed a live band consisting of Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, longtime Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich, R.E.M. and Smashing Pumpkins session drummer Joey Waronker and Brazilian multi-instrumentalist Mauro Refosco. The group will back him at two shows at Los Angeles' Orpheum Theatre on Oct. 4 and 5.
"in the past couple of weeks i've been getting a band together for fun to play 'The Eraser' stuff live and the new songs etc, to see if it could work!" Yorke wrote on the Dead Air Space
blog on Tuesday.
"we don't really have a name and the set will not be very long cuz ..well ...we haven't got that much material yet!"
Los Angeles' Lucky Dragons will open the shows, and you can get tickets through Ticketmaster beginning Tuesday at 10 a.m. PT.
Yorke will appear on the
soundtrack to
Twilight sequel
New Moon this fall. He recently played Radiohead's "Reckoner" after the premiere of new global warming
documentary The Age Of Stupid, and released a solo
single earlier this month.
You can see the video for "The Hollow Earth"
here.
Great to hear about all the upcoming collaborations, keeps Radiohead fresh!
