Final Fantasy Could Have Swine Flu, Cancels Shows

Final Fantasy has cancelled his appearance at Victoria's Rifflandia Music Festival set to take place on Friday and his show set for Saturday in Vancouver because he has the flu, according to CBC Radio 3.

The man born Owen Pallett has been tweeting all day about his condition. He's being tested for swine flu, but the results won't be in for a week.

In the meantime, he's been told he shouldn't play any shows and he's quarantining himself for the time being. Timber Timbre, who was to open the gigs, will still play. It's not known whether any of Pallett's other shows within the next week will be cancelled.

Earlier today, he said he felt good enough to play, "only when I'm hopped up on ibuprofen. And unless I wear a surgical mask and latex gloves, I'm a walking contagion."

Five hours later, he announced he wouldn't be playing Friday night's show.

"I can't even stand up straight," he wrote. "Everywhere I look, it's like the laser show in 2001."

For the time being, Pallett says he remains "semi-conscious in a cot in Victoria."
