Twilight Star Loves Islands, Daniel Johnston

In a recent interview with Nardwuar The Human Serviette, Jackson Rathbone, frontman of 100 Monkeys and who plays Jasper Hale in the Twilight series, confessed to loving Islands, The Unicorns and Daniel Johnson.

Rathbone and his bandmates expressed their appreciation and love of Daniel Johnston, citing him as "a huge influence... watching him perform, that man puts his heart on his sleeve," Rathbone told Nardwuar.

"He's an amazing songwriter, one of the best songwriters alive today, for sure," added bandmate Ben Johnson. (No, not the runner.)

Nard then hooked the band up with personalized video greeting from both Johnson and Nick Thornburn of Islands. The onslaught of questions and trivia that followed resulted in an indie rock love-in. 100 Monkeys later referred to the experience as the "best interview yet!"

The band's name 100 Monkeys refers to the "hundredth monkey effect," a supposed phenomenon where learned behaviour can spread instantaneously through a collective consciousness. How appropriate, since the lead singer is a star in Twilight, and most of the band's fans happen to like the film and book series.

You can see Jackson Rathbone in New Moon, which arrives in theatres Nov. 20.
