Slipknot's "Clown" Hosting Art Show

Slipknot percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan will make a foray into the fine arts world when he hosts his first art gallery showing on Thursday at Des Moines, Iowa's Kirkwood Hotel.

Crahan will show acrylic art on canvas, framed photography, paints and Polaroid photographs that will appear in his upcoming new book, The Apocalyptic Nightmare Journey. Jewellery made by his wife, Chantel Crahan, will also be on display, along with paintings by artist Frank Hansen and films and artwork by Scott Kaven.

"My first gallery showing is truly the realization of a lifelong dream," Crahan says. "Polaroid photography has helped open the doors in my mind about layering, saturation and backgrounds.

"Then of course, there's painting. I feel as though I've waited my whole life to be able to enjoy what I always imagined painting to be. This is now reality. Painting is one of the only artistic expressions that brings me ultimate happiness and freedom.

"This show is a fun way to have an evening dedicated to the celebration of everyone's ambitions and love for art, whatever their medium may be."

Mike Pfaff and Jeff Karnowski from Crahan's side project, Dirty Little Rabbits, will also perform jazz and world music during the show and cover songs with The $nack$, their own group. Slipknot DJ Sid "#0" Wilson will also appear as DJ Soundscream at the event and will perform with the Sound Proof Coalition.
