Avril Lavigne Confirms Splitsville With Sum 41's Deryck Whibley

So it's true: Avril Lavigne and Deryck Whibley really are getting divorced.

Lavigne updated her MySpace blog with a post on Thursday evening that confirmed the couple have split.

"Deryck and I have been together for 6 and a half years," she wrote. "We have been friends since I was 17, started dating when I was 19, and married when I was 21.

"I am grateful for our time together, and I am grateful and blessed for our amazing friendship. I admire Deryck and have a great amount of respect for him. He is the most amazing person I know and I love him with all my heart.

"Deryck and I are separating and moving forward on a positive note.

"Now I'm gonna go to the bar and get fucked up." [She didn't actually say that part.]

US Weekly reported earlier this week that Lavigne had told Whibley to move out of the couple's $9.5 million U.S. (about $10.1 million Canadian) Los Angeles mansion. Rumours the couple were to split began circulating last year.
