Flaming Lips Make Embryonic Album Available On Colbert Report

The Flaming Lips
Stephen Colbert will have the chance to make all kinds of gay jokes about The Flaming Lips' name and jokingly ask them why they hate America when the Oklahoma City band appear on The Colbert Report on Wednesday night.

Wayne Coyne and company will make their upcoming double-album, Embryonic, available in entirety at The Colbert Report's website following Wednesday's show until Sept. 21.

Maybe Coyne can start some kind of guitar duel with Colbert like The Decemberists, or maybe he can start a competition to see who's better at walking around in a giant, transparent, plastic ball while on top of a crowd.

Embryonic is due out Oct. 13. The Flaming Lips will also appear on The Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien the day of its release.

The Flaming Lips will host their annual March Of 1,000 Flaming Skeletons Hallowe'en parade on Oct. 24 in Oklahoma City. The Lips will also play a New Year's Eve show at Oklahoma City's Cox Center. The band will be joined by Stardeath And White Dwarfs. Tickets go on sale Saturday and cost $10, $20 and $25 U.S. (about $11, $21 and $27 Canadian).
