Neil Young says he
cancelled his performance at the Toronto International Film Festival because he didn't even know it was supposed to happen.
Young, who had supposedly been scheduled to attend a
screening of Jonathan Demme's documentary,
The Neil Young Trunk Show, next Monday, told the
Toronto Star he had no idea about the performance until recently and can't perform at the event anyway because he has other commitments.
"This is the first time I ever heard I was supposed to be there," Young told the
Toronto Star. "I didn't know I was a scheduled event."
It was also rumoured Young would perform at the event.
TIFF organizers have promised a "spectacular" performer will be brought in to replace Young, but no announcement has been made yet.
Neil Young will play these shows:
Sept. 12 Vancouver, BC @ Ambleside Park (
Summer Sessions At Ambleside)
Oct. 4 St. Louis, MO @ Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre (
Farm Aid)
Oct. 24-25 Mountain View, CA @ Shoreline Amphitheatre (
Bridge School Benefit)
