Blue Rodeo have announced they'll release a new studio album — their 12th overall — entitled The Things We Left Behind on Nov. 3. And apparently it's a 16-track double album.
The band made the announcement about the 16-track double album on their website on Tuesday, but no other details on song titles or lead single have been officially announced so far.
Blue Rodeo apparently performed six new songs off the album during their almost annual late August gig at Toronto's Molson Amphitheatre. According to a post on the band's message board, the song titles were "Don't Let The Darkness In Your Head," "Candice," "Gossip," "Never Look Back," "One Night Left In Heaven" and "One More Night."
In a recent interview with the Canadian Press, singer Jim Cuddy described the album as "pretty organic, acoustic-y" in the vein of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young with "much more falsetto, bigger choirs." The album will also be issued on vinyl and features an appearance from Cuff The Duke's Wayne Petti.
The group released a live CD/DVD entitled Blue Road last year. The DVD portion culled from performances at Toronto's Massey Hall. Their last studio effort was 2007's Small Miracles.
Blue Rodeo have a few dates this month and in October, including a performance at the Joshua Tree Roots Festival Oct. 10 in California. The Jim Cuddy Band will play London, Ont.'s Grand Theatre on Oct. 6.
Here are Blue Rodeo's tour dates:
Sept. 15 London, ON @ Western Fairgrounds Grandstand
Sept. 25 Carp, ON @ Carp Fairgrounds
Oct. 10 Joshua Tree, CA @ Joshua Tree Roots Festival
