R.E.M. singer Michael Stipe and actor Tom Hanks are co-producing a movie that will revolve around... Barry Manilow.
Manilow, who's famous for songs such as "Copacabana" (which is 99.9 per cent responsible for my hatred of pina coladas), will make a cameo in the film. Variety reports it's a "character-driven romantic comedy with intersecting storylines involving Manilow fans" who travel to Las Vegas to hear Manilow perform his songs. The film doesn't yet have a title or release date.
R.E.M. will release R.E.M. Live At The Olympia, a live collection of songs performed at Dublin, Ireland's Olympia Theatre in 2007, on Oct. 27.
