Go get yer bong and surf board because Sublime are reuniting... for one show, at least.
Rumours the Long Beach, Calif. band would reunite for a lengthier tour began this year when drummer Bud Gaugh and bassist Eric Wilson appeared at a show in Sparks, Nev. with a new singer named Rome and ran through some Sublime tracks.
Appropriately, that lineup will appear with Slipknot (providing drummer Joey Jordison has healed, of course), Pennywise, Goodie Mob, Geto Boys and Cheech And Chong at the Smokeout Festival on Oct. 23 and 24 in San Berardino, Calif.
"The last minute addition of our very special guests Sublime is crazy," Smokeout promoter Chang Weisberg said in a statement. "We always strive to make our shows a once in a lifetime event. I know Bud, Eric and Rome can't wait to tear up the Smokeout stage."
Sublime formed in Long Beach in 1988 and originally consisted of singer/guitarist Bradley Nowell, Gaugh and Wilson. They released three albums, beginning with their 1992 40 Oz. To Freedom debut in 1992, but didn't break out until their self-titled disc came out in 1996. It contained the hits "What I Got," "Wrong Way" and "Santeria."
Unfortunately, Nowell died of a heroin overdose before that album was released, effectively ending Sublime.
